Born in Lyon to a family of Russian émigrés, she entered the École des Beaux-Arts de Lyon at just fifteen, studying alongside artists including André Cottavoz, Jacques Truphémus and Jean Fusaro. In 1945, she won the Premier Prix de la Ville de Lyon for \u003cem data-start=\"352\" data-end=\"368\"\u003eLa Crucifixion\u003c\/em\u003e, now held in the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-start=\"419\" data-end=\"803\"\u003eHer early career was interrupted by severe illness in the 1950s, but from the 1960s onwards Prokhoroff returned fully to painting, developing a body of work deeply rooted in landscape, atmosphere and light.
