A watercolour and chalk composition behind glaze, signed by Bertil Lundgren (1900 - 1979).

This is a vivid abstract composition in Lundgren’s distinctive language of colour and movement. Working outside Sweden’s central art scene, he developed a quietly independent practice rooted in a deep attention to light and landscape. Even in his more abstract works, like this one, colour carries the structure — layered, rhythmic, and tactile. Lundgren’s approach, shaped by his affinity for the Baltic coast and its shifting atmospheres, lends the piece a lyrical certainty. A fine example of his ability to let colour do the work of form.
