The Village Spire | French Village Oil Painting

The Village Spire is an expressive French village scene by 20th-century artist Paul Launay, originally catalogued as Vue de village.

A slender church spire rises above a cluster of village rooftops, their blue-grey, cream and terracotta tones set against a luminous pale blue sky. Trees and garden walls frame the buildings, bringing a wonderful sense of intimacy to the composition.

The painting has a particularly appealing texture, with confident, generously applied brushstrokes giving the rooftops, foliage and sky a lively, almost sculptural quality.

Its palette of soft blues, warm whites and deep greens feels fresh and timeless, while the simple gilt frame provides a beautifully understated finish.

A characterful original French oil painting, full of colour, texture and village charm.
