Wildflowers in the Meadow

A charming vintage Swedish landscape painting, full of expressive brushwork and beautiful, layered colour.

A sweep of pink, mauve and blue wildflowers fills the foreground, giving way to golden fields and a small farmhouse nestled amongst trees in the distance. Above, a wonderfully atmospheric sky is painted in soft greys, blues and creams, with loose, textured brushstrokes that bring movement and depth to the scene.

The contrast between the colourful meadow, deep green foliage and muted sky gives this painting a particularly lovely balance. There is a relaxed, almost impressionistic quality to the composition, capturing the feeling of a countryside landscape in bloom.

Presented in a substantial vintage gilt frame, whose warm gold tones complement the colours of the painting beautifully. A characterful original artwork that would sit effortlessly amongst both antique furnishings and more contemporary pieces.

Oil on panel by unknown artist (Swedish origin) and signed lower right.
