A romantic, dream-like mid-century still life centred on a potted cyclamen, set against a softly worked ground.

The composition is simple but well judged — the rounded leaves, vertical stems and surrounding objects creating a quiet rhythm across the surface. Muted greens and warm ochres are lifted by touches of pink, giving the painting just enough contrast to hold the eye.

There’s a looseness to the handling that keeps it feeling natural rather than arranged, with edges allowed to soften and forms to sit gently within the space.

An easy, confident piece that brings warmth and colour to a room — particularly suited to kitchens, shelves or smaller walls where something calm but considered is needed.

Oil on canvas by artist Tage Hansson (Sweden, 1889-1968), signed lower right and dated ‘28.

Dimensions 44x56cm framed.

Good vintage condition. Canvas has a couple of minor scratches which can be expected with its age (see photos for reference).

About the artist:
Hansson was a Swedish painter whose career spanned both practice and teaching. He trained across a number of European centres, including Malmö, Copenhagen, Germany and Paris, before establishing himself within the Scandinavian painting tradition.

In 1927, Hansson became a teacher at the Skåne Painting School in Malmö, where he remained for several decades, shaping a generation of younger artists. His work reflects this grounding — measured, observational and quietly confident, with an emphasis on colour, balance and atmosphere.
