Golden Field

A structured landscape built through broad, assertive brushwork and a restrained earth-based palette. Vertical stands of trees rise in the foreground, their forms loosely defined against fields and a darker wooded horizon beyond. A band of vivid yellow cuts across the centre of the composition, introducing light and rhythm into the otherwise muted greens and warm browns.

The paint is applied with confidence and movement, allowing areas of canvas and underlayer to remain visible. The sky is treated as a textured field in itself, lightly worked with pale washes and gestural marks, reinforcing the painting’s overall sense of atmosphere rather than detail.
