A large, colourful and lively mid-century landscape showing a hillside village and fields under a wide blue sky. The scene is built up with loose, confident brushstrokes, giving the painting a sense of movement and warmth.

Soft greens, sandy ochres and pale blues create a relaxed Mediterranean feel, while the winding path gently leads the eye through the landscape towards the houses in the distance.

The lovely colours make it a really happy piece to look at. 

Oil on canvas by artist Louis Amalvy (France, 1918-2003) signed lower left and dated 1984. 

Dimensions 80x65cm, unframed.

About the artist: 

Louis Amalvy (1918–2003) was a French painter known for his expressive landscapes and village scenes. Working in the mid-20th century, he painted with loose brushwork and a strong sense of colour, often focusing on the atmosphere of rural places rather than fine detail.

His paintings capture the warmth and light of the countryside, with confident marks and layered colour giving the scenes a lively feel.
