The Blue Shore

An atmospheric vintage Swedish landscape by Frithiof Berglund, painted in a wonderfully restrained palette of deep blues, muted pinks, olive greens and soft greys.

The painting depicts a quiet stretch of water, with a pale shoreline curving into the foreground and distant hills fading beneath a moody sky. A cluster of trees frames the right-hand side of the composition, their earthy tones contrasting beautifully with the cool blues of the water.

Berglund's loose, simplified brushwork gives the scene a distinctly modernist quality. Broad passages of colour suggest the changing landscape without unnecessary detail, while subtle touches of pink and green bring warmth to the composition.

There is a lovely sense of stillness to this painting. Its understated colours and almost abstract treatment of the landscape make it particularly appealing for interiors that combine vintage pieces with contemporary furnishings.

Presented in a substantial vintage frame with a warm gold finish and pale fabric-effect inner border, which complements the painting's muted palette.

Dimensions 56 × 47.5 cm framed.

An original vintage painting showing signs of age and wear. There is a slight bulge to the canvas, together with visible areas of paint loss and surface abrasion, particularly across the water and towards the upper edge of the painting. These details are shown in the close-up photographs.
