A softly composed mid-century cityscape by Swedish artist Eva Holmberg-Jacobsson, painted in gouache with a light, chalky palette throughout. The scene is built from simplified architectural forms — pale stone walls, cypress trees and a sunlit tower — giving the painting an easy Mediterranean atmosphere.

What makes it work so well is the restraint. The colours stay muted and powdery, with soft greens, faded ochres and pale blue-grey tones keeping the composition calm and balanced. It has a decorative clarity that feels distinctly modern despite being painted in 1959.

An elegant, quietly atmospheric piece that sits especially well in lighter interiors.

Dimensions: 55x64cm framed.
