A richly textured still life by French artist Julien Duriez, painted with energetic, expressive brushwork and vivid colour. The small scale gives the work an intimate quality, while the thickly applied paint and loose composition lend it real presence.

Bright yellow fruit and deep red tones sit against a cool blue-grey background, creating a striking contrast that feels both spontaneous and painterly. The decorative gilt frame suits the work beautifully, adding warmth and character to the composition.

Exhibited in Chalon in December 1985 and countersigned to the reverse.

Oil on canvas by Julien Duriez (France, 1900–1993) signed lower left. 

Dimensions 29 x 24 cm including frame.
