Summer Landscape

A vibrant Swedish landscape by Erik Boethius, painted in 1950 with confident brushwork and a fresh, light-filled palette. The composition looks out across rolling countryside, where fields, trees and distant rooftops are reduced to expressive blocks of colour. A winding road and foreground stone wall provide structure, while touches of blue, sage green and ochre bring movement and depth to the scene.

There is a wonderful sense of openness to the painting, capturing the broad horizon and shifting light of the landscape without becoming overly detailed. The original gilt frame complements the palette beautifully and gives the work a warm, collected presence.
