The Road to the Sea

An atmospheric Swedish coastal landscape by Tage E Nilsson, depicting a quiet country track leading towards the sea on the island of Öland.

Framed by low stone walls and scattered trees, the pale winding road draws the eye through open green fields towards a distant stretch of blue water. Above, a softly clouded sky in muted shades of lavender-grey and blue lends the scene a wonderful sense of calm.

Painted with broad, confident brushstrokes, the composition balances simple geometric forms with a gentle, natural palette. The contrast between the pale stone walls, fresh greens and expansive sky gives the painting a distinctly Scandinavian character.

Signed by the artist and titled Vägen till havet, Öland — meaning The Road to the Sea, Öland.

Presented in a cream-toned wooden frame with subtle gold detailing, which complements the painting's understated colours.

A beautifully composed original landscape, full of quiet atmosphere and a sense of open space.
