The White Tower

The White Tower is a distinctive mid-century architectural landscape by Bengt Hegethorn, signed and dated 1956.

A tall, pale building rises against a clear blue sky, surrounded by simplified architectural forms in warm terracotta, soft pink and muted ochre. A vivid green foreground provides a striking contrast, while a handful of carefully placed trees bring balance and character to the composition.

Painted in a charming, naïve-influenced modernist style, the composition features simplified architectural forms, bold blocks of colour and an unconventional sense of perspective. The strong geometric shapes and confident palette give it a distinctly modernist quality, capturing the architecture through form and atmosphere rather than intricate detail.

Presented in a vintage gold-toned frame with a pale linen mount, which complements the painting's warm colours and mid-century character.

A charming and unusual original oil painting, with a bold composition that would sit beautifully in a thoughtfully collected interior.

Oil on panel by artist Bengt Hegethorn (Sweden, 1925 - 1999) signed lower right and dated 1956.
