A richly textured floral still life by John Malmberg, painted with expressive impasto brushwork and a deep, moody palette punctuated by vivid reds, soft whites and flashes of cobalt blue. The flowers seem to emerge from the darker ground of the composition, giving the painting a sense of movement and atmosphere rather than precise description.

There is a distinctly mid-century painterly quality to the work — loose, intuitive and emotionally led — balanced by the warmth of the original wooden frame, which grounds the composition beautifully. A striking piece with real depth and decorative presence.
